Honolulu, HI - World-famous bounty hunter and star of A&E’s top-rated television show DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER, Duane “Dog” Chapman, will be nabbing Honolulu CEOs and VIPs and hauling them off to the judge and jail on Tuesday, November 14th. But this time, no mace or undue force will be used, as it is all for a very worthwhile cause, and one close to Chapman’s heart – to help fight premature birth – a growing crisis that now affects half a million babies in the U. S. every year – with the March of Dimes. Chapman, himself, lost a child who was born prematurely.
Here’s a summary of the event
WHO: DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER CAPTURES CORPORATE “FUGITIVES”
WHAT: MARCH OF DIMES HAWAII JAIL & BAIL
WHEN: TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2006 • 11:00 A.M.~1:30 P.M.
WHERE: TAMARIND PARK, BISHOP SQUARE, DOWNTOWN HONOLULU
This event is focused on helping premature babies with the byline “It's a crime for a baby to be born before it's time.” Chapman will be taking his prisoners to “Judge” Frank DeLima, while fellow comedians Bo Irvine and Kaina Huddy will serve as “Prosecuting Attorney” and “Public Defender,” respectively.
“Premature birth is the leading killer of newborns and a major cause of disabilities,” said Jail & Bail chairman Max Sword, of Outrigger Hotels & Resorts. “The number of babies born prematurely each year has increased by 30 percent since 1983. There are more than 500,000 babies being born premature each year in the United States and 2,300 in Hawaii. That’s why Dog and I are teaming up with the March of Dimes to help save babies. We believe that it is a crime for a baby to be born before its time.”
The list of “fugitives” is still being finalized, and more are being asked to sign up to help the cause. There will be lots memorable moments and photo ops when they are “arrested” by Chapman - undeniably the most famous bounty hunter in the world, as well as the most successful with well over 6,000 captures in his career. Chapman will apprehend all of those on the March of Dimes “Most Wanted” list escorted by real Honolulu Police Department officers. He will bring them before “Judge Delima” and “Prosecutor Irvine” for the trial. “Public Defender Huddy” will plead guilty on behalf of the jailbirds and then they’ll be sent to pay their fines.
This year’s event is open to anyone who cares about babies. Before participating in the event, jailbirds collect contributions from family, friends and other enthusiasts to help the March of Dimes fund research to find out how to prevent premature birth and local programs that give hope and help to families who experience it.
All interested Jailbirds can sign up by contacting the March of Dimes at 808-973-2155. All Jailbirds welcome, rain or shine! For more information about Jail, visit marchofdimesjail.org.
In addition, Chapman and his famous posse will agree to sign autographs and pose for photos with fans for a donation to the March of Dimes.
